Dear Diary,
Today was a long day. When Fuegia, Poena, and I woke up we
were actually equally rested. First we washed Poena. Then I gave Poena a nice warm blanket to dry off with. I then put a bandage around one of her legs. She got a
blister that was infected, fortunately it wasn't bad, but it still needs a band-aid. Then we got ready for the day. I went to breakfast. Then we
got a nice warm blanket though it wasn't raining we still thought that it would be easier for Poena to go to sleep if she wants to. At breakfast we talked about a number of different things.
Our conversation went like this:
Fuegia:
| |
Did you see Aliaranel rushing by with a single leaf in her hand? |
Me:
| |
Yes, I did.
|
Fuegia:
| |
You know, it is a wonder how it could ever be so stormy. |
Me:
| |
Yes! I quite agree. |
Fuegia:
| |
Mr. Darwin's here—he doesn't look to good. |
Me:
| |
Yep. |
Mr. Darwin joined our conversation.
|
Darwin:
| |
Is anyone sitting there? (Pointing to the chair next to Fuegia) |
Fuegia:
| |
Nope. |
Me:
| |
You certainly don't look very well! |
Darwin: | |
You'd expect on a ship that someone just has to get sick. |
Fuegia:
| |
I hope you don't go up on deck with every bite! |
Darwin: | |
I just might! |
Fuegia:
| |
I hope you don't go up on deck with every bite! |
Darwin: | |
I just might! |
Me:
| |
Oh, but you should try not to stay below deck! Breath some fresh air once
in a while! |
Darwin: | |
Yes, I have to admit I have been so into my work that I just don't stop
to enjoy the trip.
|
Fuegia:
| |
Yes, well, I have to admit you are getting less and less pleasant and more
cranky since we haven't landed. |
Darwin: | |
I was disappointed. Ever since I heard "land ho", I have been waiting for
a chance to get on to dry land. By the way, when I heard "land ho" it sounded
like a girl. Did you notice? |
Me:
| |
Well, of course—I was the one who shouted it. |
Darwin:
| |
Oh, then that makes a lot of sense. |
Fuegia:
| |
I didn't know that! |
Me:
| |
I guess I forgot to tell you. |
Darwin: | |
How's your piglet? |
Me:
| |
Her name's Poena. She is right here. Healthy, except for a blister. |
Darwin: | |
Does she eat? |
Fuegia:
| |
She is eating a bit of a potato today for breakfast.
|
Me:
| |
It is probably time to finish eating. We were going to paint today. |
Darwin: | |
Have fun!
|
After breakfast, I got all of the supplies together. Poena was going to finger
paint. I showed her how. She painted a nice picture that didn't look like
anything. I painted (with a brush) a nice sunset over the ocean. Fuegia (with a
brush too) painted a doll. I am making one as a present for Poena along with
Fuegia. It is a nice one just for her. After that we had tea and lunch, we then
went and read a few books, talked, played a game, and ate dinner. Then we went
to bed, but got ready first of course.
