Val stared...Land...LAND!!! And... a pirate ship. They obviously had tried to disguise themselves as a whaling ship, but they weren't doing a very good job. Their outfits kind of gave them away. By now, Valicia had changed into what she had worn when she first boarded the HMS Beagle: a plain black tank top and baggy black cargo pants. However, she wasn't wearing any shoes. She had been too lazy and tired at the time to put her hair up, so she was constantly removing it from her eyes... literally.
Three ugly men dressed in well, pirate's clothing... The usual torn shirt, or no shirt in this case and torn pants. Okay, one of them did have a shirt, and his clothes weren't too shabby. But they were all still ugly. Crooked noses, facial hair (Eww.), scars and eye patches. The shortest one, walked up to her.
"Hey... why don't you come‹mmff," he was cut off when Val's foot hit his face.
"Pervert," she muttered.
The finer dressed pirate smiled crookedly. "I like your style. I've got something for you back at our ship."
"Don't make me hit you too."
The man who had something for her turned out to be the captain. She never asked for names, because she really couldn't care less. The captain eventually found what he was looking for and gave it to her. It was a plank
"A wooden plank... I'm honored," Val said sarcastically. But it was at that moment, the plank began to glow.
For a split second everything in Val's mind went blank. The next thing she knew... she was in a modern apartment. There was no furniture in sight, just boxes of stuff. Like the kind you used when moving. The man who entered the apartment looked familiar. A lot like the pirate captain.
"So you're finally awake?" he said.
Like it's not obvious? "Yeah."
"Cool... here!" Shoved into Val's hands was a bag.
After looking inside, Valicia looked at him and thanked him. But she was still very confused. Yen? Why did he give me yen?
30 minutes had passed since she left the apartment. The yen counted up to be 200,000¥. Not bad, she thought. (200¥ is about $1US. So 200,000¥ = $2,000. It's not exact, though.) I should take advantage of this...I am in modern Japan, after all.
First off, she bought some cheap sandals, because her feet were starting to hurt from walking on the pavement. She also bought a navy blue yakata, (It's basically a kimono, but it's not as fancy. It's something you'd wear at home.) shampoo and body wash, (Yay!) a dufflebag, a deck of playing cards, a backpack, three sets of clothes, headbands, scrunchies, a new hairbrush, and some woman things.
Next, she counted her money again. She had about 80,000¥ left. (What? Japan is more expensive than the US. Plus, shopping does add up.) After glimpsing a flyer, she decided what to spend the rest of her money on...
Luckily, there weren't many other woman when she stepped into the hot spring. She didn't want to have to deal with talkative people. Valicia just wanted to relax. She showered before and after entering. It was the rule to shower before entering.
Walking down the street, she said softly to herself, "This is great. Maybe I won't have to go back to that stupid ship." And as you can expect, everything went black. That wooden plank had worked its magic, and it was time to send her back.
Awake, and confused, Val turned her head to the right. On the ground was her dufflebag and backpack full of the stuff she bought, and in the sea, was the HMS Beagle.
"This sucks..."
