Sixteenth January, 1832

Dear Diary,
    I was talking to Mary Tuna and she asked me if I wanted to watch her piglet. I agreed and said that I would feed her while I was pig sitting. Here are some of my adventures with Poena (the piglet). When I received Poena she was sleeping. I wanted to try to keep her asleep so I wrapped her in a blanket. I decided to go for a walk and found myself in Jonathan May's (the carpenter) workshop. I stood watching him work on a crib for someone's porcelain doll when I got an idea to make a trough for the pigs. I had to pretend to not know about troughs because they weren't invented until 1933. I set Poena on a low table not realizing that as I set her down I woke her and walked over to Jonathan.

   I said: Hello Jonathan!

Jonathan:		Oh, hello Sipho! What can I do for you?
Me:		I was wondering if you could build me a box.
Jonathan:		What kind of box?.
Me:		UmŠ (pause) here let me draw you a picture.
Jonathan:		I think I can do that. What is this for?
Me:		This is for Janis and Mary Tuna and their pigs. They can use it to put food in during feeding time.
Jonathan:		Interesting... Well I'll have it for you in a couple of days. Sorry I can't have it for you today, but I am making a crib for a porcelain doll.
Me:		Interesting... (another pause). Well I'll talk to you later.
Jonathan:		See you later.

   I turned around and went to pick up Poena off the table and all I picked up was an empty blanket!! Oh no! I thought. I started frantically searching all over the ship. As I was frantically running by the gun storeroom I heard a THUMP! Aha! I was almost certain I had found that mischievous piglet. When I opened the door all I saw was the sole of a boot disappearing into nowhere! If anything I was expecting hooves but that is not what I saw!! I was astonished! THIS WAS TERRIFYING!! Who was traveling through this portal? What was traveling through it?
   In the midst of all of this confusion, a familiar snout popped out from behind a barrel. There you are! I exclaimed. As she scurried toward me I leaned down to pick her up and she disappeared through the portal. Not Again!!! I had no choice but to follow her through the portal. I took a step forward and felt a cold liquid feeling hit my face and I found myself looking in the captain's store room. I quickly took a step back and I was back in the gun storeroom. This is going to be tough!! I have to do it for the piglet. I jumped through the portal closing my eyes. As I opened my eyes, I look down and saw that Poena was shivering and picked up her up. I quickly tried to warm her and once she had stopped shivering, I wrapped her back up in the blanket and jogged back to Mary Tunašs room. She thanked me for babysitting her piglet and took Poena and immediately started to hug her. As soon as I left her room I broke out into a run straight toward my room where I now lay in my bed stunned by the occurrences today.
