February Third, 1832
Dear Diary,
Yesterday was very strange! I felt like all was gone and nothing seemed right...
I was walking with Katie (as usual) and I noticed the same baby seagull from a couple days ago but, only with another note!
Dear Emmy,
Once again I'm sending you a letter; we have sent a brown and white spotted beagle on her way to come and rescue you! Now don't be afraid beagles are very tame animals you know! Oh and before I lose the ink on my feather pen I wanted to let you know that this beagle is named Lucky. Now don't fret we will send her today! Please reply with your location currently and we will rescue you faster!

The Captain of the HMS Beagle
|
Well, what'd ya know? A little doggy is rescuing me!
"Okay Emmy, be on the look out for a beagle." Katie said as she smiled. I then grabbed Katie by the hand and pulled her towards the meadow.
"How are you sure that's really him?" I said, starting a conversation.
"It just makes sense that's all"
"Yeah, you might be right, but what if he isn't really the captain of the— WAIT! HMS Beagle? I used to live on a ship similar to that!"
"Really? Maybe that's how they know it's you!"
"Wow! That's cool!"
"Yep, and if they truly know it's you then they must know Jake!"
"You think so? I mean if they did it could be like two huge fighting brothers!
Katie laughs and says "Oh shoot! What time is it?"
"It looks about sunset so I would say around six o-clock—maybe"
"Then we better get hiding so Jake doesn't find us here!"
"I agree! How about little hut? If we work hard we could build it by 9 o-clock!"
"Okay, lets get started! You search over there for some sticks, and I'll look for some old fishing nets to tie them with!"
"Okay, lets go!"
We soon split up and start searching.
I walked over to the forest and saw some whitish sticks that looked hard and solid, so I picked them up and ran back over to a nice area near the left of the forest to put them down. I soon got some more sticks and put them in the same place. In about fifteen minutes (or as it seemed) I had collected about fifty sticks and still no sign of Katie, I decided to just sort some sticks out and wait for her patiently. After a while of sorting I saw Katie come back with this huge brown fishing net that looked new! I ran over to her and asked what took her so long, but all she said was "They're hard to find".
"Okay, lets start sorting!" Katie said with a grin.
"Sure, can we lay out the big ones first?"
"Okay!"
I then took some sticks and started laying them out like I was building a little house out of play sticks. "One on top of another" I said to my self, "Don't mess up", I kept repeating the pattern several times until it was taller than me so Katie had to finish. I rushed around to the other side of the hut I realized we had been working on it for at least two hours! It was 5'7" for height and 5'10" for a width. All that was missing was a roof and a door. Katie and I decided an old boat upside-down could be a roof and we could try to build a door. We went off searching on the beach for an old boat. On the beach we saw an abandoned old wooden rowboat that looked the right size for our hut! Katie and I struggled to get it off the ground so we decided to push it—after all, the beach practically lives next to our hut.
After a while worth of pushing we managed to get it to our little hut, now the only problem was how do we get it on the roof? I thought we should have me climb up onto the roof and pull it from Katie until it was on tight. Katie nodded. I then got a boost from Katie and climbed onto the roof. I soon saw Katie lifting the boat up struggling but still managing to do it, I saw an end of the boat some up to my head so I pulled it... WHOOSH I went flying off the roof and landed flat on Katie! She laughed as she looked up and saw the boat oh I mean roof was finally on! We jumped for joy as we entered the little hut. Okay, now we have a roof so all that's missing is a door! I suggested we used a blanket as a flap sort of thing until we actually found out how to connect a door. I walked backward looking for a nice spot to sleep when "Ouch!" I stepped on a hammer! Wait! That's how we'll connect the doors! Katie nodded. I picked it up and looked for nails to go with it. I managed to find at least ten, more than enough for a door! I decided that we should use the net we found as a hammock sort of thing and use some old blankets Katie made. We would use them for a door and some bedding.
In about twenty minutes our task was complete! Hammock, bedding, and a door! Now all that was needed was some sleep.
(That is the end of my day)
See? Wasn't that a cool day I had? Oh great, I forgot! Now I have to find that beagle!
I'll try to write some more...
