Travel Agency-page 2
Once inside the shop, you look back once at the
door. The old man, his face pressed against the glass of the door, is leering at
you. You hurry deeper into the shop.
Suddenly, you stop in surprise. This does not look like
the shop from the outside. To be sure, you could barely see inside, but your
impression was of a dark, dreary sort of place. The kind that you would hear
rats scampering about. You glance back and see that yes, indeed, the shop
window is as grimy as you thought.
Perhaps all that grime hid the pleasant atmostphere
inside?
You're in a sort of an office area. The walls are bright
and cheerful. There are a couple of desks with computers--the desks are
nothing fancy, but the computers have plasma screens and are clearly the latest
and greatest. You are so taking all this in, that you don't realize at first
that you know the travel agents.
"Welcome," says Sue.
"Hi," says Teresa.
"What are you doing here?" you ask. You're not very polite,
but you are surprised.
"Running a travel agency," answers Sue. "Do you want to book
a trip?
You hesitate. Isn't there some rule against minors signing
up for trips by themselves? "What sort of travel agency is this and how come I
never saw this shop before?" you ask,
hedging for time.
Teresa grins. "I have no idea why you've never seen us before,
but we are a travel agency and we travel anywhere anytime. Sue adds, "We find that people find us only when they need
us." That sounds pretty profound, but you are more intrigued by
Teresa's comment. "Anywhere, anytime?" you ask skeptically.
"Even places that don't exist," she says.
"Huh?"
"Interested?" asks Sue.
