Dear Diary,
You seem to have shown up. When I was pushed into the
wormhole I couldn't have you, and now you suddenly turn up at my bedside table!
I am just fine, and I am happy on this ship, too. It is a nice place referring to the rats.
I am the companion to Fuegia Basket. It is nice to have a friend that you can be with. My
day started at six o'clock in the morning. Fuegia and I woke at the same time today as usual.
We did each other's hair. It was fun and then we put on a slight bit of make up,
got dressed and went to have a small, but nice breakfast.
After breakfast we
went to visit Janis. Until recently, I thought she was a boy, but when we were talking
she told us to keep it a secret that she was a girl—although, it was obvious
that she was a girl. Boys' faces aren't like girls. She told us that when she was
chasing the main pig she fell over Agent X's foot. He was mad at her. Mr. X is
well—weird. I am afraid of him. He even plays with a gun! I dare not tell
mother.
Anyway, Janis says that it is hard to watch over all the animals
and her dog at the same time! She asked us if we could help out. I told her we would
have to change into something less good. I had an already soiled dress that I brought
for this sort of matter and put it on. I gave another one I brought to Fuegia since she
didn't have one.
When we came back, Janis said that we could help feed the animals, and
help her with one of the sheep who was having diarrhea. Fuegia said that where she used
to live (she is from an island, I think) they gave their sheep an herb that turned out to be
thyme. We got it from Aliaranel and dropped off some dung. How happy she was about
some dung! We gave the herb back to Janis and she mixed it with the sheep's feed.
It worked! No diarrhea was to be seen for the whole day.
After twenty minutes, I
told her that we were going to have to leave. It was nine thirty and we were due
at the Uncle's cabin at ten! We washed and got changed and everything to find
that we were ten minutes early and were early.
I told Uncle about the things we saw on the ship. In about two days of
time we will be near land! It was another thing that I have noticed—Mr. Darwin
has been coming onto deck looking out at sea, shaking his head and going back to his
cabin. It happens three times a day...once at sunup, then at noon, and then at
sundown. The reason for this Uncle said was that he was looking to see if we could go
in a little boat to shore. I guess he wants to get off the boat and walk on dry
land and study plant life and wildlife.
Mr. Darwin caught a bird to day! It was our delight to find it was a pelican and we wanted to study this type of
pelican. It is a rare one! Since it was injured, I brought it to Janis. She said
it will be alright and just scratched its wing.
It was time for lunch. Rat stew
was on the menu, with a couple of hard tacks. Not gourmet food, but it did the
trick. Then we spent the rest of the day reading and playing games in our cabin,
stopping only for dinner.
