Dear Mother,
I say, Mister Darwin is sea sick. I have fully recovered from the storm. It was lucky enough I had Aliaranel's voice to guide me. I heard two young kids talking about things such as what they call TV and videos. I have never heard of such things. More people are going above deck covering their mouths until they reach the side of the boat and let go of all the vomit. I have gone down to Ariaranel asking is there a cure to seasickness. She said "No, but there is more ways of making it better." I asked her what they were and she said "Well, a lot of seasickness is caused by the rocking of the boat."
We have our first case of scurvy on board. I hurried to Aliaranel for herbs. I think I have enough herbs to last a day. If anyone show signs of scurvy, it is up to somebody to bring them to us.
I saw a sailor stealing a loaf of bread and I follwed him to the where the rest of the crew sleeps; he hid it in a barrel right next to his bed. I ran to Uncle and told him about it. He, and some other sailors looked in the barrel and found things that were stolen. Not just food, but herbs and books. Drawings that Mr. Darwin couldn't find, my original pearl necklace (I was missing it), extra blankets, fresh water and medicine. Why, he was a thief. It was a good thing I caught him in the act, because he denied it. I spoke up and told him that I saw him in the act. He was very mad at me. I made sure that everything was returned. He was a thief. The everything he stole was valuable. Even the water. I knew I had some when i found it missing.
I didn't see from the crow's nest, so when Uncle said I could I was excited, but when I was climbing up, I was scared. I finally reached the top and saw something nobody could see. Land! So with a smile on my face I screamed "LAND HO!" Boy, did it feel good. I was happy. It is estimated it will take a week to reach it.

Sincerely,
Mary
